Manda Helal is an environmental awareness specialist, educator, and artist working with ceramics and found objects. With over 30 years’ experience, she has led workshops on re-use, recycling, composting, and sustainable living. At the Women’s Environmental Network (1997–2006), she developed education programs around composting and environmenstrual health, including an award-winning composting project at Spitalfields Market.
Manda designed a DIY menstrual lingerie pattern featured in Juno magazine and has brought environmenstrual education to Glastonbury Festival for over three decades. Her community art projects combine creativity and sustainability—such as The Cycle Circle sculpture and a yurt built from salvaged bicycle wheels and water pipe, exhibited at Spitalfields City Farm.
From 2006 to 2024, Manda was a 3D Technician at University of the Arts London, where she co-created the Re-use Exchange for students. Originally trained in ceramics and medicine, she is also a passionate gardener, cyclist, and urban beachcomber who finds beauty in rescued and repaired materials.
