Scala Colab focuses on how people and communities interact with their physical, social and organisational environment, and how the nature of these interactions shape wellbeing, opportunity and life outcomes.

Strategy & Advice
We provide technical and strategic advice. Design principles and guidelines, visioning, review and feedback, sharing and dissemination of knowledge for multiple stakeholders are all central to our work. We also monitor completed projects to help them adapt to new challenges and existing constraints. We draw in additional expertise from other sectors to add value.
Design Solutions
We work on tangible outcomes. Our solutions create both top-down and bottom-up change in the way we design and build. Every one of our solutions incorporates emerging knowledge and is evaluated at many scales. We design at the level of a room, a building, a neighbourhood or a city as interconnected elements. Our work goes on well beyond completion of construction to fully evaluate the impact of the project.
Research
We research collaboratively. Our work brings together designers, universities, think tanks, manufacturers and organisations for interdisciplinary, multi-method research projects. We conduct commissioned and self-initiated research independently or as part contributors. This can involve research design, literature reviews, data collection and analysis, research dissemination, communication and application.
